Construction in Preze, Lame: Permit at Prosecution

17/07/2013 00:00

The Construction Permit given to the father in law of the Integration
Minister, Majlinda Bregu, for the construction of a building close to
the Preza Castle, will be sent to the Prosecution for a further
investigation this September. Artan Lame explains that the permit was
against the law for cultural heritage.

“On behalf of the Heritage Forum and the Albanian will to defend the cultural heritage, we will send this case to the Prosecution this September, same as we will do for the shameful permits given by the Culture Monuments Institution and Mr.Apollon Bace in the Kruje Castle and the area around; for the construction at the Spile Cave; for the restaurants inside one of the most important objects of the Albanian prehistory; the permits given by Mr.Bace in Korce; with what happened with the “House of the Flag” and other permits that are being prepared for construction there, etc”, Lame declared.

Article 32 of the cultural heritage law says that “for cultural monuments, a surrounding area is decided as protective zone according to their architectural values, the urban aesthetic compatibility, the ecological circumstances, and that this area is decided by the institution that declares the site a monument, according to a study made by the Institution of Cultural Monuments”.

Referring to this article, according to Lame, Mr.Apollon Brace was unable to sign the construction permits near the Preza Castle walls.

“The law requires that the monument should be signed by the Minister. This document does not exist. After the protection area is decided, Bace can speak if it is a protective area or not. Now they are bringing up the theory that there used to be a house in 1920 or 1930 right here. We have had houses like that even in the Skenderbej Square. This is not a reason to give permits for another construction. We appeal them to be more responsible about what they say, because they will answer about this before the justice institutions”, Lame declared.

Lame asks the Cultural Monument Institution to not do any effort to sign anything regarding this construction, or other things that can damage the culture monument.
