The President’s rejection of the unconstitutional law on swearing in by members of the Constitutional Court is the right action to protect the Constitution and the public interest, from the corrupt private interests of the country’s prime minister.
Such was the declaration of the Democratic Party legal affairs secretary Lirim Gjata on the matter, who added that the DP supports it entirely.
“This law which privatizes the Constitutional Court by Edi Rama, has been rejected by the President of the Republic, who has taken the appropriate act in defense of the country’s constitution. The Democratic Party backs the rejection of this law that gives Edi Rama total control of the institutions and marks the collapse of democracy and the rule of law”, added Gjata.
He went on accusing that the usurpation of the Constitutional Court is one of Edi Rama’s early intentions in seizing all the institutions of justice. “That is why the country has been without a functioning Constitutional Court for two years, and why Edi Rama is taking acts that violate the Constitution, which in turn undo the justice system reform and undermine the country’s political stability”, concluded Gjata.
