The Constitutional Court has rejected the request of the Albanian
Helsinki Committee, which claims that some articles of the
Decriminalization law go against the Constitution.

The lawyers of the Albanian Helsinki committee claimed that removing the right of some prisoners to vote is a violation of the European Convention of Human Rights.

The Helsinki Committee wanted to repeal article 2, paragraph 4 of this law, which says that 2000 prisoners will not be allowed to vote.

These are people convicted for serious crimes, starting from terror and to organized crime. The Helsinki Committee insists that they have the right to vote, regardless of what the crime is.
