Constitutional Court postpones hearing on the refugee agreement with Italy, requests additional evidence

Today, on 24.01.2024, the Constitutional Court of Albania held the plenary session for the examination of the request presented by 30 deputies of the Assembly of the Republic of Albania, for the agreement to host refugees arriving in Italy in two centers in the northwest of the country.

The court decided to adjourn the hearing for the discussion of the case, asking for other supporting evidence for the requirements added to the application.

“During the review, the Constitutional Court found that on 23.01.2024, at 15:55, the applicants submitted additional written submissions, in the content of which some evidence was requested. The additional submissions were communicated to interested subjects on 24.01.2024, at 9:30 a.m.,” the announcement said.

In these circumstances, the Court, based on articles 43 point 1 letter “e” and 44/a of its organic law, which provides for the right of the parties to oppose the requests, conclusions and explanations of the other parties, decided to postpone the next court session on 29.01.2024, at 10.00.
