The Constitutional Court accepted to review the request filed by the acting Mayor of Shkoder, Voltana Ademi, to invalidate the June 30th local elections.

Sources confirmed for Top Channel that the Consultation Chamber has moved the case to the next meeting of the Judges who will decide whether it should be discussed in a plenary session.

However, this is just a small start in the opposition’s efforts to repeal the local elections, since the Constitutional Court is only composed of four members so far. The final decision on the validation of the June 30th elections must be taken by a six-member panel.

This means that the complaint filed by Ademi will have to wait for two other Constitutional Court members to be appointed.

This decision is significant especially at this moment, with the country still undergoing a political crisis, and the parties accepted to sit together and dialogue for the Electoral Reform only, which, according to them, would make way for early local and parliamentary elections.

It’s worth mentioning that on July 18th, Voltana Ademi demanded the unconstitutional proclamation of the June 30th electio0ns with the argument that the President had canceled the decree.

The USA specified that those who had claims regarding the validation of the June 30th elections had to address the Constitutional Court, as soon as a new panel of judges is established.
