The EU and German ambassadors say that the new President should
be elected through the consensus of the main political parties.
Ambassador Sequi declared of having the same opinion, while visiting the new Ombudsman.
“Article 86 of the Albanian Constitution describes the President as a symbol of national unity. The mechanism and the interpretation of this article is up to you”, Sequi declared.
While visiting the town of Burrel, the German Ambassador to Tirana declared that politics should see as an example the relations of the Mayor of this town with the Municipal Council.
“It is important to elect the President according the rules. He must live in Albania and work more for his country. Albania has a Constitution with rules for the Presidential elections. There must be some special qualities. We have always supported the consensus between the parties for such important issues. Maybe the Parties should refer to the good relations of the Mayor of Burrel with the Municipal Council, when taking this important decision for the country”, declared the German Ambassador, Carola Holtkemper.
