Former democrat Prime Minister Sali Berisha has called on January 8 a protest against the current chairman of the Democratic Party, Lulzim Basha, in order to remove him from the party’s offices, after the membership congress where he was dismissed.

Meanwhile, in the main headquarters of the Democratic Party, rapid works are being carried out, while the doors and windows and doors are no longer transparent.

The press office insists that the change is related to the painting of the building, but the Commission for Re-establishment, led by Berisha, considers it a closure for fear of January 8.

“MP Lulzim Brava has decided that on the eve of the peaceful protest of the Democrats, to turn their house into a bunker of loneliness and underhand deals. We remind Lulzim Brava that those who overthrew the bloodiest regime in the ’90s will never allow any door lock, iron or latch to hold their will hostage,” reads the statement of the PD Re-establishment Commission.

But why is the Democratic Party building being painted at this moment? The answer comes from their press office: “The works and maintenance at the headquarters this year are done in order to reorganize and refresh the central structures of the party. The Democratic Party headquarters has been and will always be open to Democrats with contributions, but closed to those who have held the Democratic Party hostage all these years in the hope that they can use it to hide, defend or fix their dirty deeds”, they say.
