Conflict between President and Government over Zhiti escalates

The Albanian President, Bujar Nishani, answered through Facebook to the
declaration of Prime Minister Edi Rama, who said that he is sentencing
Visar Zhiti for a second time by not decreeing his candidacy for
Ambassador in Vatican.

The President launches strong accusations by saying that Zhiti is a victim of the slander made by “those similar to the secret service”, according to him, and who today want to influence in the decision making.

“The Prime Minister didn’t miss a moment to prove that he prefers the show, the exhibition, the gestures. He prefers easier things rather than serious work. The Prime Minister doesn’t know, or he pretends he doesn’t know, that Visar Zhiti is not one of the “rare” poets imprisoned by the dictatorship, but he is one of them. Visar Zhiti himself is ashamed of being called “rare”. Yes, Visar Zhiti hasn’t lied about anyone. Those similar to the former Secret Service have lied about Visar Zhiti, and today want to influence the decision making”, the president writes.

The President stands to the position that by not decreeing him, he stands to a constitutional procedural law: a preliminary consultation with the President.

“Visar Zhiti ahs been proposed by the Prime Minister for Ambassador to Vatican without a basic, procedural and legal condition, which has been declared and reiterated: preliminary consultation with the President”, Nishani declared.

“The arguments are not counted, but they are weighed”, says a latin word that has never been contested by anyone so far. Our Prime Minister, unfortunately, does not respect this confirmation”, the President’s reaction concludes.
