The Albanian Foreign Minister, Ditmir Bushati, opened this Friday the
three-day conference of ambassadors, an activity that returns after some
years of interruption.
“When I was appointed 10 months ago, I was being asked how I felt. I answered that nothing is like the Foreign Ministry. That’s my conviction even today, because this is where the National Interest is protected”, Bushati declared in his speech.
Those who are considered as our representatives in the world have arrived in Tirana only a few days after our country received the candidate status, which is followed by another challenge for Albania.
“I greet the Albanian diplomats for the contribution given in crossing the obstacles for the candidate status. I am grateful to the diplomatic body accredited in Tirana for the qualitative and honest cooperation in this process. The candidate status is a new commitment for our diplomacy, and for its professional action, so that the relations between Albania and the EU can be favourable for reaching other more difficult phases in the membership path”, Bushati declared.
By expressing awareness about the challenges and duties of the Foreign Policy, which are especially difficult for a small country like Albania, in the new challenge of ouir country, that of the negotiations, the Head of Albanian Diplomacy left only one task to ambassadors.
“The new objective for opening the membership talks should serve as an ecouragement for a mobilization of our diplomacy based on the parameters that requires this new phase. Our diplomacy has an important role for convincing all countries of the world regarding Albania’s progress. One of its duties is improving the country’s image in the world. This means a dynamic approach in improving Albania’s image with Foreign investors and the international media, and for accepting Albania in the digital world”, Bushati declared.
In parallel with integration, the Albanian Foreign Policy focuses on the region and especially the relations with Kosovo.
While the Albanian foreign policy guarantees to support the US and the EU, it also wants to be in harmony with the international developments, with a new vision but with a clear interests: the national one.
