The Republican Party and two main associations of former land owners are
against the draft-budget, which, according to them, prolonges the
property issue in eternity and doesn’t keep the promises given by the
Socialist Party leader, Edi Rama, during the electoral campaign.
Based on the 16 million USD compensation that the budget has given for former owners, Mediu calculates the time that the compensation and legalization might take, a process that is related to a property issue.
“13 million USD will come from a fund that will be guaranteed by the legalization, and 3 million USD will come from a fund that will be given for the expropriated subjects. With this pace, we would need 700 years to compensate the owners. According to this fund, they will legalize 3700 subjects for the next year. Since there are 100.000 subjects who have built on the land owners property, the process would have to continue for 30 years, while Rama has promised that the legalization will end within two years”, Mediu declared.
The Republicans and the Owners’ Associations are revolted also for the fact that the draft-budget doesn’t foresee money for the implementation of the Strasbourg Court, which mounts up to 10 million USD.
“We ask the Prime Minister to stop playing with the former owners. He must correct this budget and plan real funds, according to the property compensation law, and implement the Strasbourg Court verdicts”, Mediu declared.
