Residents of “Qeriba Derri” street in the “1 Maj” neighborhood in Vlora in the southwestern coast of Albania, have been left without tap water for more than two years.
It is about 50-60 families who told that the lack of water is due to the works of the 2T company, which is rehabilitating the streets of this neighborhood, but at the same time it has damaged the water distribution network.
In this situation, residents are forced to buy water and fill it with carts in other places. They say that to wash they use the water of the wells that they have opened, which is often polluted or with parasites.
Top Channel program Fiks Fare inquired with the water supply company in Vlora, where official Elona Hodja, after the alert of the journalists, went to the field speaking to the manager of the company carrying out the works, as well as the water supply inspector of the area.
After the discussion between the parties and the residents, it was seen that the latter had not submitted in time their complaints other than recently.
An agreement was reached between the managers of the 2T company and the water supply directorate that within a month the connection of the new water line and the installation of meters for these residents will be done.
Now remains to be seen if the company and the water supply company really keep to their word and bring drinking water to the residents’ homes, reports Fiks Fare.
