Dimitris Avramopoulos, the EU Commissioner for Migration, Home Affairs and Citizenship, met with the Albanian President, Ilir Meta, and with the Prime Minister, Edi Rama, during his visit in Tirana with Vera Jourova, the EU Commissioner for Justice, Gender Equality and Consumers.
Avramopoulos wrote on Twitter: “Warm and friendly meeting with PM of Albania Edi Rama. Albania is making progress on migration and border management, and enhancing security, steadily going forward on its European path.”
“Excellent meeting with the President of Albania Ilir Meta, a key partner for the EU in our common challenges on migration, borders and security”, he wrote about his meeting with Meta.
Commissioner Jourova met with the Minister of Justice and discussed possible improvements on the rule of law.
Avramopoulos will meet with the Minister of Interior to discuss the current challenges about emigration, border management and cooperation between law-enforcing agencies against violent extremism and terror.
