After a slight drop on January, Albanian exports have returned to the increasing trend once again. Official data from the Institution of Statistics show that
exports grew with 27.8% in February, compared to one year ago.
The new addition reaches up to $45 million. The growth was led by the manufacturing industry, fuels, energy and food products.
Albania has exported $381 million in the January-February period, after exporting $340 in the same period of one year ago.
Besides exports, there is a double figure increase in imports too. The Institution of Statistics says that total imports grew with 17%, led by leather products, fuels and energy.
In total, for these two months, imports increased with 9% by changing the trend which started in 2011.
Although the biggest import growth is due to electric power, data show that other elements have also increased. This gives hopes for an increase of consumption and investments, despite the fact that the Albanian Bank Supervisory Council was not very optimist about these indicators.
