Commercial center with mosque

Environmentalists, architects and other associations made an appeal for
not destroying the only park within the Tirana ring road, by abusing
with the fact that it is being replaced by a mosque, since two other
towers are planned to be built at the same place, and will serve as
commercial centers.

“This is a decision that has violated a series of steps, starting from the lack of a detailed study. These three works that are being built close to each other and the parliament, are destroying the last green space of a metropolis like Tirana”, declared environmentalist Sazan Guri.

Environmentalists say that there is no study for the environment in this area. They say that they are not against the construction of a mosque, but they are against abuses with its name.

“By using the name of the mosque that the Muslim community needs, they built business towers for clear profit and speculation. The mosque itself will be polluted with businesses, which goes against the religious principles. They have lied about the property on which the mosque will be built, which is an issue that has not been resolved yet”, declared architect Artan Shkreli.

The Union of Architects is against the project presented for the mosque, since it is unacceptable from the aesthetic and architecture point of view.

“We have a project that has never been discussed. We see a mosque that looks like taken from the suburbs of Stamboll or any other town, There are a lot of examples in the east and west of modern mosques”, declared Ledian Bregasi, from the Union of Architects.

The Muslim Community also has members who are against this construction, In the debate were invited representatives of the municipality and the Muslim community, but they didn’t come.
