A work shop honoring the Jewish people is being held in Tirana, as part
of the Council of Europe Presidency. Present in this activity were
people who escaped the inhuman treatments of the concentration camps.

Berisha considered Holocaust as the most barbarian act ever committed in centuries, and declared that it should be a good lesson for the war against racism.

“For me, as a Prime Minister, is a very special case to bring this activity as part of the Council of Europe Presidency, because this is the oldest post-war institution. It has given an extraordinary contribution throughout Europe”, Berisha declared.

“We must commemorate the victims and help them rebuild their lives and show their stories. We must ask ourselves each day if we are building a society with courageous individuals such as those who we are honoring today, or are we rising a new generation that is immune to the appeal of the racist ideologies? I think that our duty is to remember the past and be vigilant for the present. Only then we will see the future with hope and confidence”, declared Nils Muižnieks, Commissioner for the Human Rights at the Council of Europe.

The activity will include the a film made by Mrika Krasniqi about how the Albanians saved the Jews during the holocaust, and it will also present different views on the historical friendship between Albania and Israel.
