“I was unable to make orders. This was done by the owner, Arber Cekaj”, said Donaldo Lushaj, one of the two suspects arrested for 613 kg of cocaine found hidden under the floor of a banana-loaded truck.

The 25-year-old told judges that he had been employed by Arbri Garden in 2014, managing the loads with the sales agents. The orders were made by the owner, mainly from Columbia, Ecuador and Argentina.

Lulaj said that this specific container had been delayed by two weeks. The containers were being checked in Livorno and they passed customs there.

Donaldo Lushaj reminds that on February 27th he had been called by a Customs employee, Arlind Madani, who told him to come for the truck because the scanner had given a red signal.

Police had noted that the floor of the truck was a bit open, but filled with silicone.

This leaves to be understood that someone had checked the floor, seen that there was filled with drug, and could have signalled Albanian authorities for the suspicious load.

Driver Armando Pezaku confirmed that his turn to drive the van was only based on a chart.

Arber Cekaj, the owner of the company, remains on the run for international drug traffic.
