Coach De Biasi leaves Albania’s football team, disappointed with Federation

The Italian coach said the reason for this decision was a lack of good will from the Albanian Football Federation to discuss renewing the contract. The coach made this declaration after the important success against Israel.

“I will leave the Albanian national team after the qualification matches. As any other history, this has its beginning and its start. Albania doesn’t need any revolution. The machine is now ready. I could have left after the European Championship, when I was contacted by several federations, offering me millions in agreements. But I stayed here to continue the work we already started. I will give my 110% for as long as I will stay here. There is a mentality I don’t like. For victories, you are all victorious. When the team loses, I’m the only one who lost”, he said.

De Biasi left to be understood there was some kind of disappointment and lack of support for a contract renewal with the national team.

“I think I don’t enjoy support by some people, despite these five years and a half. If the federation wanted to keep me, we should have talked earlier. Now it is too late. It doesn’t work like this. The ones better than me, such as Low, they were confirmed four years ago. I wasn’t expecting my agreement to be renewed two years ago, but I was expecting another discussion from the Albanian Football Federation. The relations with Duka have always been good, but from the human point of view I have made some mistakes I don’t want to repeat”, he said.

The current agreement with Gianni de Biasi expires after these qualification matches, on October.
