Closing the Tirana markets

The merchants of the food Markets that are being closed in Tirana,
protested by blocking for two hours a segment of the Tirana Ring Road,
causing the entire traffic to collapse.
“The shops and firms that do not respect the law, should be closed. But not the entire market. That’s what the state is for”, one of them declared.
“I have been working here for 13 years and it is difficult to change this now. We are in the middle of the city here. We cannot have the same profit outside the city”, another one said.
They say they have had agreements to work there, and moving somewhere else has a high cost for them.
“Installing a refrigerator room requires thousands of Euros. My agreement for that room ends in 2017. How can I respect that agreement?”, another one says.
Merchants say they don’t accept to move because the new market doesn’t have the same profit, and that 5000 that work in 650 stores will now be unemployed.
The Task Force from the Prefecture and the Tirana Municipality blocked 30 subjects for not respecting the hygienic conditions, and then decided to close the entire market.
