More than 100 students have decided to start a hunger strike in front of
the Faculty of Nursery in Tirana, to oppose the tuition fees
established by the Ministry of Education.

“After 48 hours of a marathon protest at the faculty, and after the answer of the Minister of Education, Mrs.Lindita Nikolla, saying that we must pay seven times higher than our classroom friends, and that they cannot make the Albanian taxpayers pay for our tuition, we want to ask Mrs.Lindita Nikolla if our parents are not taxpayers of the Albanian Republic”, says the representative of the hunger strike students, Bernard Progni.

After closing dozens of higher education institutions which were operating without respecting the law, now the burden goes on the students who were registered in those school. The Ministry of Education registered many of those students in public universities, where they must pay higher fees than the other students who were accepted through the normal points that are required after the tests.

But this was opposed by these students, who consider this unjust. They say they do not have to pay fees seven times higher than the other students.
