The Albanian government approved the decision for recognizing
citizenship to every person of Albanian origin who live in the Schengen
area and in countries that have a visa free agreement with Schengen.
Berisha asked the Albanians of Kosovo for understanding, since they are not included in this decision. Berisha declared that it is on their own benefit that the visa issue get resolved by respecting the guides of Brussels.
“Every Albanian benefits from this decision, besides those of Kosovo. They might get hurt, and that’s why I ask their understanding because it is on their vital interest to resolve the EU visa issue by respecting the guide of Brussels. It is not Albania, but Brussels that decides for the Kosovo visa regime”, Berisha declared.
From this decision is also excluded the old diaspora, such as the Arvanitas in Greece and the Arberesh in Italy, but Berisha says that the process is still under development.
