Several police forces are inspecting Bulqiza to fight the chrome
smuggling. The Mirdita police office stopped and seized three other
trucks filled with chrome.
The legal basis that the police is using is the lack of the respective documents. Police has pressed charges of smuggling, tax evasion and forgery.
21 trucks that were blocked in the past 24 hours had only one bill for their goods, but without the quantity and its value written on it. For the police, this is a tax evasion and document forgery, and all company leaders are sent to be prosecuted.
The Interior Minister, Saimir Tahiri, says that he will add even more forces to completely stop this smuggling which, according to him, might have caused huge damages to the state budget and economy.
The police is still collecting information regarding this activity with 24 hour services in the national axes, especially in the north. Police will inspect all roads connected to Bulqize, where most of this criminal activity can be found.
A few days ago, the Minister of Energy, Damian Gjiknuri, ordered a wide action in the Bulqize area. After the order, a special working group started inspecting all subjects that operate in this area.
The Ministry of Energy declared that they will create a detailed report in the area and the ministry will take the respective measures by stopping all illegal subjects and by giving penalties or canceling concessions for the subjects that have not respected the agreements.
