The case of the Albanian children blocked passports at the Greek border
with the justification that the passports do not have the right
birthplace writings on them were discussed today in Parliament.

MP Taulant Balla declared that there are thousands of similar cases only in Elbasan, where the Albanian citizens face difficulties when the Greek authorities did not recognize the birthplace names written in Albanian.

“The Albanian passports and official documents will be written in Albanian. I appeal the Foreign Minister to start informing the Greek part that not only the passports, but also the other identity cards will always be written in Albanian, and the Greek officials can take the official translation for any term”, Balla declared.

The Foreign Ministry declared that they discussed the situation with the Greek Homologue and agreed to wait for two months, until an official solution is found. Meanwhile, another problem has risen in Kakavija.

The Albanian buses were blocked for seven hours by the Greek customs, with 700 passengers inside. The reason was that the last deadline for the licensing of buses was October 10th. The buses were allowed to pass after some negotiations.
