According to the data of the International Labor Organization, 7.7% of
the Albanians from 5 to 17 years work in difficult jobs to survive.

Agriculture, construction, mines street vendors are the mostly populated areas by this army of children.

“56% of these children are involved in dangerous jobs, and this is one of the most delicate results of this study. Children who are considered too young to work even for one hour a week make 28% of the entire working children. 92% of them work in dangerous conditions”, declared expert Etleva Dhespoti.

Civil society asked urgent measures from the Government and the Ministry of Labor and Social Labor, so that children cannot be exploited but educated.

“Most of the working children have been employed in the agriculture sector, 6.1% in trade, 4.4% in hotels and restaurants and 3.1% in construction. 5.1% of all children from 5 to 17 years of age are minor workers”, Dhespoti declared.

Most of these children come from poor families with social and economic problems. The lack of a shelter and daily food has obliged them to make very hard work for their age, and face the dangers of the street.
