The Parliamentary Commission for investigating the privatization of the
Energy Distribution Operator (OSHEE) to the Czech “CEZ” company, has
gathered today with Chairman Taulant Balla asking witness Nuel Kalaj to
be brought by forces, since he has allegedly acted as mediator between
the Albanian government and the Czech group.

Balla presented several e-mails allegedly exchanged between Kalaj and the Czech representatives in Albania and Prague, saying that their content shows how the bad loan for CEZ changed in disfavor of the Albanian budget.

He also added that former PM Sali Berisha and his son, Shkelzen Berisha, are also quoted on these e-mails. “We also need to verify if the money has remained in Albania of if their were taken outside the country in bags”, Balla said.

Ridvan Bode, MP of the opposition in this commission, appealed Speaker Balla to not rush to conclusions without hearing the testimonies of the people involved.

“You have turned Nuel kalaj into a hero. Every media is talking about him, but you are not taking him here, to testify. Let’s bring the CEZ director here too. He must tell us why he has sent this money. We cannot guess that Haracek gave Kalaj this money for this or that reason. Bring him here to testify”, Bode said.

As for the bad loan, Bode, former Minister of Finances with the Berisha government, said that the company today has it to 25%, a much hgiher level than before, which, according to Bode, was 10% more and not 14%, as Balla was saying.
