“CEZ, a recommended agreement”, Gjiknuri: It made way for investments

The Minister of Energy, Damian Gjiknuri, reported today at the
Parliamentary Commission of Productive Activities, where he faced
opposition’s declarations about the CEZ agreement.

Minister Gjiknuri did not comment the declarations of the Head of the Energy Community Secretariat, who admitted the agreement was related to the stance of the Czech Republic on the candidate status. But he said that the debate about CEZ was opened for political reasons.

“They simply want to profit for the moment and make diversions to discredit the energy reform. My opinion and that of many international institutions is that this is the most successful reform. The international institutions are being included and criticized to complicate the role they had in reaching the agreement, and the progress of the energy sector. Everyone is responsible for his declarations”, Gjiknuri declared.

“The gentleman was disinformed when he gave a declaration that there was a condition for the candidate status. I am not denigrating Kopac, but the Czech Ambassador and the EU said the very next day there was no condition for the status”, declared Genc Ruli.

Minister Gjiknuri said that the decision for a friendly solution of the case was a suggestion of the IMF, the World Bank and the EU, as condition to open investment funds in the Albanian energy sector.
