After the first population registration figures were published, the
Albanians automatically became 12% richer.
According to the data on which the state institutions had been operating until now, but also to the international ones, Albania had 3.190.000 citizens by the end of 2010.
The per capita income, according to the buying power, was calculated to 7667 USD.
But the Census 2011 shows that the Albanian population is 11% smaller than before the result was published.
As result, the per capita income in Albania is automatically increased to 8589 USD. This 900 USD growth is 12% higher than one day before the Census results were published.
With the new figures, Albania is leveling with some of the other countries of the region.
Albania had 1531 USD per capita less than the neighboring Macedonia. With the new result, the difference goes to 600 USD.
Whether the Census figures are credible or not, today the Albanians are officially 900 USD richer.
But the lower population number is a double blessing in this case, because besides increasing the revenues, it also increases the per capita public debt.
