Albania is preparing to celebrate the 100th anniversary of independence
with deformed flags. The flags placed in all central institutions have a
deformed eagle, which was noticed by many people and that was reported
in Parliament by MPs Sajmir Tahiri and Taulant Balla.
“What is really happening is that on this 100th anniversary, you have deformed the flag by humiliating 100 years of independence, the national symbols on this day and all the people that have honoured that flag”, MP Tahiri declared.
“This law that I’m reading clearly defines the measurements of the official emblem. The Prime Minister has cut the eagle’s tongue and prolonged the lower beak”, Socialist MP Balla declared.
“Fake” eagles in Nishani’s and Berisha’s offices too
A few days before the big day of the 100th year of independence, Albania is covered with red and black flags. But different from what the law provides, the eagle in the Albanian flag is deformed.
The law passed in 2002 states that the flag is presented in a blood red field, with a double headed black eagle in the middle, which has its wings open and each head turned in the side. Each wing has nine feathers. The measurements are defined in the proportion 1 with 1.4 units.
The experts who planned this law noted that the eagle’s beak was joined to the body line, different from the official flag of Albania.
And the problem is not only with the flags that have decorated the streets. This flag is also present in the highest government offices, to the limits of a scandal. The Prime Minister has appeared in public with a flag that is not the official one, set by the law.
