The Central Election Commission rejected the request of two members to remove Mallakastra Mayor’s mandate, Agron Kapllanaj.
Biba and Skenderaj claimed he was affected by the decriminalization law, since he had been sentenced in 2004 by an Italian court for theft.
Socialist members at the CEC attacked the Prosecution, which said that Kapllanaj’s rehabilitation period ended in 2016, and he was not affected by the decriminalization law.
The Socialist Members say the Prosecution has lied, because the investigation results were handed over on October 16th, and, according to the law, they should be reviewed within 10 days.
