Car sellers protest law that bans the import of vehicles older than 10 years
Starting from January 1st, vehicles that use fuel lower than Euro 4 will no longer be imported to Albania.
In Durres, men who have been selling vehicles for the past 28 years, in a country where the largest part of the population can afford only older cars, fear that this will make their businesses shut down.
According to them, the law would leave at least 5000 people unemployed.
“If a worker in Albania is paid 200-300 USD a month, how can they pay vehicles produced in 2009? That would cost at least 5000 Euros”, one of them says.
They promise to continue with protests if the government doesn’t withdraw the law by the end of the month.
