Campaign officially starts on May 24th

After the confusion created with the campaign dates, the Central Election Commission has officially confirmed it for this Friday.

The Electoral Code says that the electoral campaign starts 30 days before the election day and ends 24 hours before the election date. The Parliament is dispersed exactly on the day when the campaign starts.

But a Parliament decision has decided that May 25th is the official day when the Parliament will be dispersed and when this legislature will be over/

After Friday, the radio-television operators will be monitored for the coverage of political activities, which should be equal for every party, according to the law.

However, the political parties couldn’t wait and opened their campaigns before May 24th.

The Democratic Party held an opening meeting in the Mother Theresa square, 11 days before the legal deadline. The Socialist Party will hold the opening meeting this Thursday.

The early start of the campaign has paralyzed the institutional activity in our country and has attracted the attention of the public opinion, showing once again that the Albanian politics is extremely politicized.
