Same as in the past electoral years, the Albanian capital has the most
number of electoral meetings. So far there have been 285 political
meetings registered in the police. Different from before, this campaign
is considered as calm and without problems so far.
During an interview for Top Channel, the Tirana Police Director, Bernard Caushaj, shows the features of this electoral campaign which has not marked any incident with ripped flags or any other incident between militants.
“Different from the other electoral campaign, now we have a calmer situation. There have been some rare inconsiderable cases with simple incidents. We have paid attention and priority to the cooperation with the electoral subjects. We have been able to reach a good cooperation between all electoral subjects and also with the rest of their militants. They have felt the duty of the police and they know that the police as an impartial role in these elections. It is the state police, the police of everyone, and everyone knows that we are all equal before the law. In areas where there used to be incidents we have taken more information, keeping people with such tendencies under control”, Caushaj declared.
This campaign has been used to find criminals that are running from the police.
“On electoral campaigns, people with criminal precedents tend to join the political subjects and parties don’t know who they are. Our duty is to find them, which is something that has happened even before. We have caught 159 people that have been wanted by the police. This number is bigger than the last year. We have tried to not attack when they are on meetings, but we have followed them to their residences and bars”, Caushaj declared.
