Butrint Park has owners

Agim Toro is one of the people who have benefited properties in Butrint,
including the Archeological Park. He dclared a price for the entire
archeological area, if the state wants to expropriate him.

Toro declared that the last decision for the property return was given in 2008. He was opposed by Auron Tare, representative of the forum for protection of heritage, who declared on Top Channel’s Wake Up program that the decision is illegal. But for Toro, the park has a financial price.

“There are 1230 hectares of land. 1155 of them belong to the private owners, who will turn into owners one day. If the state wants to expropriate me, the compensation value goes beyond 1 billion EUR. This is the bill that the state will have to pay if we are expropriated”, Toro declared.

A debate for the legality of this decision has started by the protectors of the cultural heritage. They want to declare as illegal the decision that makes some persons owners of the Butrint Archeological Site.
