Two weeks before elections, 12 associations representing various sectors
of the economy, brought up their own economic platform which they will
present to political parties.
Luan Bregasi from Business Albania says that the economic programs presented so far by the parties go beyond reality. He says that the voice of businesses must be heard.
“Seeing these promises, which seem to be more than our economy can afford, we would like the platform to be discussed with businessmen who know what are the problems of our economy”, said Luan Bregasi from Business Albania.
Businesses want several taxes reduced.
“We need a moderated VAT reduction, and a gradual reduction for specific sectors. Local taxes for manufacturing industries are very high”, Bregasi said.
Other important pillars are the development of professional education, lower costs for farmers. For tourism, businessmen asked VAT to be implemented the soonest possible.
“Legal acts need to be prepared, because this law should have entered in effect on June 6th. This is not getting done, due to the technical Ministers”, he said.
The boldest request of business associations is their demand for a division of the Trade Ministry, as its own Ministry. For them, its leader should be proposed and discharged by businesses themselves.
