The Customs Directory appealed all businesses to hurry and benefit from
the fiscal amnesty which is apparently going on with a very slow pace.

“On behalf of the General Customs Directory I appeal all subjects to apply for benefiting from this law until 31 December 2011. After this date, the General Customs Directory will be forced to exert pressure for recovering the customs debt”, declared Qazim Merlike, Customs vice general director.

The data that was made public by Merlika show that the number of businesses who have applied is inconsiderable.

“There have been made 40 payments of more then 10 million ALL. 9 cases with a 12.9 million ALL value have not benefited, because the subjects have the obligation to declare their wealth at the High Inspectorate of Declaration and Audit of Assets”, Merlika emphasized.

Different to the business, the individuals have been more interested to profit from the amnesty. According to the law, all those who have bought a car in the last two years should pay the custom fee with a 50% value of the tax, without delay penalties.

“867 auto vehicles have passed the customs and paid 177.9 million ALL, who have also benefited amnesty for the same amount”, Merlika underlined.

In total, according to the Customs data, the debt and the other Custom obligations that will be pardoned through this law reach 14 billion ALL, or 144.2 million USD.
