The Albanian Foreign Minister, Ditmir Bushati, together with the
Minister of European Integration, Klajda Gjosha, have started a tour of
meetings in several European countries.
The first stop was France, a country with a heavy weight in the European decision making. In an interview for Top Channel, Minister Bushati initially answered to the question of what they are aiming to achieve through this visit in Paris.
“With France we want to intensify the economic and commercial cooperation with the spirit of support that the Dutch President gave in the Berna summit. Also, as a key country for the European Union enlargement, we are hopeful for support on the candidate status”, Bushati declared.
When asked about the topic discussed in the meeting with his homologue, Laurent Fabius, Bushati has said: “We discussed about tangible cooperation areas, such as energy, water and transportation. Certainly that we discussed the candidate status of Albania. I asked Minister Fabius to support Albania”.
The Head of the Albanian diplomacy gave his opinion as regards the French vote in the December meeting of the European Council of Ministers regarding the candidate status.
“First, let me inform you that the French Foreign Minister will visit Albania in the first months of 2014. He confirmed the support for the deserved status, which means that Albania will keep with the reforming process and France will support us in this direction”, Bushati added.
