Being the first Albanian Foreign Minister who is elected member of the
European Council for Foreign Policy, Ditmir Bushati asked the Vienna
Conference to focus on the principal projects, especially in energy.
For Albania, more than for the energy, this is important to reduce the Russian influence in the region.
As Council member of the organization that has more influence in the EU diplomacy, the first stance of the Albanian Foreign Minister was that dependency on energy makes Southern Eastern Europe exposed to third parties to which Russia is attached.
“The EU must process a courageous and all-inclusive security concept for Southeastern Europe. This would help securing a better investment climate for the European companies of the region and bringing back fair competition, in contrast with the corruptive practices that usually favor the inclusion of third parties”, the Foreign Minister declared.
The infrastructure projects will be the focus of the meeting of the Western Balkan countries with the EU ones in the Vienna Summit.
