The Albanian Foreign Minister, Ditmir Bushati, said the UNESCO voting
for Kosovo was a disappointment. Bushati said this is not a failure of
Albania’s lobbying.
“It has turned into a practice in our country that when there is a victory, no one penalizes it, of course. And when there are no good results, they rush to find blame. The result is disappointing, but this voting consolidates Albania’s alliance with the West. This will make even the EU to impose more conditions on Serbia, in order to avoid returning the region into a zone of many different influences”, Bushati declared.
The Foreign Minister said the voting showed the geopolitical circumstances that have been present in Albania for a long time.
For some surprise votes, such as Poland, The Minister said that he hopes it will not be a stance of the new cabinet of Poland, a country that has always been known for pro-western sentiments. The Minister added he hoped it is not a result of any confusion with the negative stereotypes of the current refugee crisis or possible extremism.
