The Albanian Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs, Ditmir Bushati, said that Serbia’s rhetoric about Kosovo belongs to the 19th century and goes against the current dialogue, which is focused on reconciliation and normalization between both countries.
“The Serbian Foreign Minister, Ivica Dacic, said that Kosovo is the heart of Serbia and that Kosovo Albanians are living outside their own country. This rhetoric comes from the 19th century. The Albanian-Serbian relations have an elephant in the room, which is Kosovo. Kosovo has its own representatives talking in its behalf, but it must be clear that the normalization between Kosovo and Serbia will not be replaced by the good relations between Albania and Serbia. It is only complemented by it”, Bushati said.
“Dialogue must be based on sincere ground. We have many common interests with Serbia, and there is a tendency to go beyond stereotypes. The progress in the relations with Serbia is undergoing. Our countries need to overcome the wounds of the past and there are good signs about this”, he declared.
