Bushati meets in New York with Western Balkan ministerial meeting

During his stay in New York, Foreign Minister Ditmir Bushati held a
speech in the meeting of the six Western Balkan countries, with the
presence of Johannes Hahn, the EU Commissioner for Enlargement. Bushati
underlined the importance of creating the Western Balkan Fund.

For the Minister, the Fund is one of the most important political and diplomatic operations, together with the creation of the Youth Cooperation Office, as a clear sign of the political will and new vision for a region in the spirit of understanding, tolerance and friendship, with the purpose to encourage reconciliation and cooperation, and fight distancing of youth from racism, xenophobia and hate speech.  

During the meeting of SEECP (South Eastern European Cooperation Process), Bushati underlined the need for a better coordination, for more solidarity and collective response for the wave of migrants in Europe.

After this, the Minister met with the member countries of Adriatic Card (A5), which will be now led by Bosnia Herzegovina. Minister Bushati mentioned the current challenges of the Euro-Atlantic security and the contribution of Albania to confront them. The Minister also underlined the importance of intensifying regional cooperation as an important factor for the progress of other Western Balkan countries towards their complete Euro-Atlantic  integration.
