The Albanian Foreign Minister, Ditmir Bushati, was part of the informal
meeting of the EU Foreign Ministers, held in Luxembourg. Bushati said
that the wave of refugees requires a collective answer and instruments
to accommodate them.
The wave of refugees coming from the Middle East and Southern Mediterranean is a sensible phenomenon for us, because it brings back memories of the ‘90s, when Balkan saw mass emigrations after the fall of totalitarian regimes, and then the mass movements after the wars in former Yugoslavia. The wave of refugees that has struck Europe now is caused by a series of elements that challenge the ability of everyone, and that requires a collective answer”, Bushati declared.
