During his official visit in Netherlands, the Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs, Ditmir Bushati, attended an activity organized by the Hague Center for Strategic Studies and the Albanian Embassy in Netherlands, in which he shared with Dutch MPs, journalists and diplomats the views of Albania about the European perspective of itself and Western Balkan.

“From the moment when Albania started its anti-communist trip, our national priority has always been the EU accession. It has always been clear that our EU path was unchangeable. Balkan has no other alternative besides the European family. Albania has progressed with the criteria, which reinforce the foundations of a functional democracy, based on the rule of law and on a developed economy, able to bring prosperity to citizens”, the Minister declared.

The Minister made a presentation of the reforms and results that Albania has achieved in its path towards the EU, since the early 90s and until today, when the country is knocking on the EU door for opening the accession talks.

According to him, this is time for the EU to open its doors to Western Balkan, since Europe is getting stronger.

“The relations between the EU and the EU integration perspective are the key of stability and reforms in Western Balkan”, the Minister said, adding that many of the challenges Western Balkan is facing today are similar to other countries, including EU members.

“Only by working together Europe can be stronger in face of challenges, creating more security, social welfare and prosperity for its citizen”, Bushati declared.
