“A common market for Western Balkans and good political will to remove barriers in the region’s connectivity”, said the Albanian Minsiter for Europe and Foreign Affairs, Ditmir Bushati, during a meeting of Western Balkan Ministers with the EU Commissioner for enlargement, Johannes Hahn, at the UN General Assembly in New York.

The Ministers discussed the implementation of the Regional Economic area, Western Balkan’s EU integration perspective and the economic-political situation in the region.

Bushati underlined how the consolidation of the rule of law and a safe business environment is directly tied to the region’s economic development, and that is why it is necessary for our countries to remove barriers that block inter-connectivity, such as citizens’ movement in border checkpoints and a common market.

The Minister attended the Trans-Atlantic dinner organized by the US State Secretary, Mike Pompeo, with the Foreign Ministers of NATO, EU and other partner countries. The meeting focused on security matters and other challenges our countries are facing.
