The deviation of a water stream after the construction of a hydropower
plant in the Bulqzie area was the cause for residents of four villages
in the Zerqan commune to start a protest.
They have learned that the hydropower plant will use the water of the lake that residents use for irrigation of more than 2000 hectares of land.
The protest started at the place called Town’s Bridge, and continued to the construction site, where they blocked the road for one hour.
The Strickan village reed, Mirvet Lala, said that they have written several letters to central and local administrations, without finding any solution.
Protesters accuse communal leaders, saying that those who signed the petition have been pressured by not receiving services even from the local administration.
Residents threaten that if this problem will continue, their protest will escalate.
