Bullying cases are no longer rare in Albania. Although it still remains a
hidden phenomenon, there are thousands of children and teenagers who
report this issue.
This problem is turning into a huge social crisis for this category of our society.
“Alo 116 is not only for stressed politicians, but also for children who have no money to pay. Children report in this line, and the reaction of the government should be immediate”, declared Detlef Palm, head of UNICEF for Albania.
The recent study Alo 116 has shown that thousands of children and teenagers are facing threats and offenses at home and on the streets, problems that they cannot share with their parents. 50.000 phone calls have been registered during 2012 on this line, where children report bullying at school and problems with their parents or their peers.
