Bulgarian embassy intervenes for Minorities Law

Although all political forces support the new draft law for protecting
national minorities, not all countries of the region seem happy with it.

The Bulgarian Embassy has reacted after the law didn’t include their minority.

“The sensitivity is really high. Just a few days ago, our e-mails received a request addressed to the parliamentary commission, coming from the Bulgarian Embassy, so that they could be heard in this commission. Maybe it is time to give them an answer, so that they can come tomorrow and discuss the law”, declared the MP of the Socialist Movement for Integration, Klajda Gjosha.

The Foreign Minister, Ditmir Bushati, specified that this letter has arrived at the Commission of Laws as well, but he asked MPs to be unified with their stance.

“With all due respect to these letters, we need to have a very well divided international principle from the constitutional one. Which one is called an interest group that benefits from the law. We, as the Commission of Foreign Policy, must keep this in mind. I hope we are unified on this”, Bushati declared.

The draft law presented in Parliament foresees eight national minorities which will be heard for their stances this Tuesday at a joint meeting between the Commission of Laws and the Foreign Commission.
