The EU Council and the European Parliament reached an agreement on the block’s budget for 2020. The investments or Western Balkan seem to be higher this year.
The total funds mount up to 168.7 billion EUR, a 1.5% increase compared to last year’s budget.
Turkey’s pre-accession funds have dropped sharply, by 85 million Euros.
“The budget of the next year provides a realistic approach, taking into account the taxpayers’ interest and the need to take care of the new challenges that may arise in 2020”, said Kimmo Tiilikainen, the representative of the Council in the negotiations with the European Parliament.
The priorities of this budget are climate change, opening new jobs, improving security and managing immigration.
The climate protection funds are notably higher.
