In the final days of the electoral race for the June 23rd elections,
Brussels keeps launching appeals for a transparent process within the
European standards.
The Commissioner for Enlargement, Stefan Fule, and the High Representative for Foreign Policy at the European Union, Catherine Ashton, reiterated the importance of these elections for Albania’s European path.
“The Parliamentary elections in Albania present an important test for the democratic institutions and the European Union path. We will keep observing the preparations closely and encourage the correction of the problems as found n the preliminary report of the OSCE ODIHR”, says the declaration of Ashton and Fule.
The Commissioner and the High Rank Representative also mentioned the situation with the Central Election Commission,
“It is essential for the political leaders to find a way that is acceptable for everyone, so that the Central Election Commission can be fully functional. It is a responsibility of the Albanian political class to reinforce the public’s trust on the electoral process and create the conditions so that the electoral result can be acceptable for everyone”, the declaration adds.
