European’s Parliament vote in favor of the new resolution for Albania has caused various reactions inside and outside Albania.
Paragraph 2 of this resolution underlines that the European Parliament welcomes the European Commission’s recommendation for opening EU accession negotiations with Albania as soon as possible. To do this, Albania will need to have credible and stable progress with a all-inclusive implementation of the Judiciary Reform, and concrete results in the fight against organized crime and corruption.
British media suggest that the accession negotiations may start within four months, while UKIP members, who are openly against the European Union, says that Albania’s membership will claim more British tax-payer money, but will also allow Albanian to move freely. British “express” says that the arguments in favor of Albania came very strong from the Bulgarian MEP, Ilhan Kyuchyuk.
Albanian Parliament Speaker, Ilir Meta, said in Vienna that the passing of the Judiciary Reform is a sign that Albania is progressing towards the EU.
“This historic constitutional reform will create a more impartial judiciary system, which will force politicians to be more transparent with their ruling, making them accountable in the public life, something so much needed”, Meta said.
For the Socialists, the day for starting EU accession negotiations is not far. “Albania is ready to start the accession negotiations. We have progressed even more than Montenegro and Serbia with chapters 23 and 24, related to the justice system”, said Taulant Balla from the SP.
For the opposition, there will be no integration for Albania without fair elections, decriminalization and removing of cannabis plantations.
