The Governor of the Bank of Albania, Ardian Fullani, refused to give
information about the Commission of Economy in Parliament, regarding the
theft of 713 million ALL from the Bank of Albania.
The Chairman of the Commission of Economy, Erjon Brace, declared on Facebook that he has officially asked Governor Fullani to give information about the current problem at the theft. He requested the reports of the working groups and internal audit for the past four years, and also to answer about the nepotism and the increased spending for the personnel, general expenses and the investment agreements.
“We left one week for this. The official week finished yesterday. The governor refuses to hand over this information in Parliament”, Brace writes.
The Socialist MP explains that the information is part of a complete file that is being prepared for every MP before starting the public hearing sessions with the members of the Supervisory Council and the Governor at the Commission of Economy.
“The governors is hampering it and this is a huge responsibility. The Commission of Economy has the constitutional duty to supervise the Bank of Albania, and this duty will be done despite the institutional obstacles created by the Governor. We are demanding what the Council and the Governor don’t want to do for a number of serious violations in the Bank of Albania: the Administrative Responsibility. The issue of the theft at the bank will not be closed because the governor or his council want so. The theft will be closed together with the responsibilities and the legal amends that liberate the bank from politics, interests, corruption, nepotism and by making it return stronger, independent, transparent and functional”, Brace concluded,
