The Minister of Finances, Ridvan Bode, considered the recent World Bank
about the European Economies as the best evidence for Albania’s economic
system.

In a public press release Bode declared that the report certifies the pro-economic growth policies that according to him have been followed by the government in the recent years.

According to the Finance Minister, these policies enabled Albania to stay out of the world crisis.

Asked about the journalists, the Minister of Finances declared that Albania needs to reform the pension scheme. As for the public debt, he repeated that it is not a danger for Albania.

Bode’s declaration comes two days after the World Bank leading economist for Europe and Asia, Intermit Gill, declared for Top Channel that Albania needs to reduce the public debt in 40% of the GDP.

“When I analyze Albania’s performance, I consider it a success case. You can rarely find a country that has increased the per capita income in such a short time, and for me this is a success story. I think that the future is optimistic. Although the economic situation might have changed now, Albania needs more efforts than earlier to keep this pace”, Gill declared.

Mr. Gill was in Tirana for presenting the “Golden Growth” report, published lately by the World Bank, for which he is one of the main authors.
